Water Leak Appearing on Carpet – Where From?

Have signs of a water leak ever appeared on your carpet for no reason?

What if the leak had surfaced out in the middle of the carpet with a cement slab under it?

We recently managed to find a leak that had appeared in a strange location… a place with no immediate explaination as to how it got there. There was no signs of a leak from the ceiling above or the surrounding walls… and it was on a concrete slab in a highrise apartment!

After 10 minutes we traced the leak back to the source with our thermal imaging camera and leak detection equipment.

This leak had turned a couple of corners following the base of the wall and eventually exiting at a lower point then running under the carpet… eventually settling at a low point on the concrete slab. This low point was towards the middle of the room under the carpet.

In the end it turned out the leak had tracked from behind the dishwasher in the kitchen! There was no visual signs beyond the carpet… so there is no doubt the home own would have been scratching their heads for a while if they hadn’t called us!
