Q. I’m just wondering if you could tell me how much it would cost to have someone inspect for mould in my home? It is a two bedroom duplex, with combined lounge and dining and a small kitchen. We have recently found mould in our bedroom which was apparently caused by loose roof tiles which have since been fixed. However, I would like to know exactly how much mould there is in the property, as I have a mould allergy and have been sick for quite a while.

Q. I live in a two-storey town house which has a balcony above the family room. I bought the property new in October 2007 and have had ongoing problems with leaks coming through my family room ceiling. The building has been out to the property numerous times and the balcony has been resealed twice. The last time the building covered the cost for an independent company to reseal the balcony, however I still get water in on days where there is a combination of high wind and heavy rain. The builder feels that the problem is still the balcony and therefore does not want responsibility. They have been back numerous times and it is their opinion that whilst the balcony did need to be resealed, the problem is now coming from maybe flashing.

The inspector responded to my email query stunningly quickly, and I was so glad it suited him to do the moisture detection inspection on the very same day!
