What is the chances of finding a leak in a brand new house?

Should you even check for leaks in the home?

The average building inspector will usually run through a checklist to make sure all the ‘usual suspects’ are functioning correctly, and also test the normal stuctural make up of the home for defects.

What if the roof or windows has leaked while the home had been sitting there for sale?

The only way you could normally tell if such a problem has revealed itself is if you can visually see it. The problem is that you normally wouldn’t detect signs of a leak until it has penetrated the walls (usually around the skirting board), but at that stage it’s too late.

Thermal imaging can see what you and I can’t see (e.g. Signs of leaks) that could be behind the wall… and the beauty is that you don’t need to put any holes in the wall! If you haven’t considered a thermal imaging leak inspection on your home or building, you may find it’ll save you from buying a ‘lemon’, or atleast allow you to negotiate a much better price on the property. If you assume all is OK with the home from a visual building inspection, then in effect you are actually taking a risk on the home… especially now that you know thermal imaging technology is available to find hidden moisture in the walls etc.
